Karel Smouter is Coordinator of Constructive Journalism at the School of Joumalism.
He is an experienced editor with a demonstrated history of working in (online) journalism. Smouter studied Philosophy at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. After that, he worked as a journalist for several media platforms. With the constructive journalism platform De Correspondent, Smouter acted as deputy editor in chief and correspondent Migration, Religion and Human Rights, until in 2017 he joined the School of Journalism.
At Windesheim he coordinates and teaches constructive journalism throughout the curriculum of the Bachelor of Journalism, and more specific in the minor course ‘Going Constructive’. Smouter still writes for De Correspondent and engages his audiences in his projects.
